There isn't a single director that I admire wholeheartedly. Instead, from what I know about current famous directors, this is what I hope to emulate from them.
STEVEN SPIELBERG for his abilities to shoot really fast, organise huge sets and cast and crew, and for his distinct way of directing the way objects move on screen.
MICHAEL MANN for his extraordinary abillity to make dialogue exciting.
RON HOWARD for the inexplicable way he manipulates the audience and gets the audience to feel the exact emotions needed.
JAMES CAMERON for his deep understanding and earnest pursuit of special effects technologies and the amazing abilities he has as a writer and his understanding of what heightens audience emotion.
OLIVER STONE for daring to impose his own idiosyncracies and ideas and using them to shape the movies into something he presents, rather than what the audience expects - screw the consequences.
ROBERT ALTMAN for his unique abilities in choreographing and confidence in allowing actors to pursue their craft onscreen under a balanced and limited control environment.
Be annoying, for it is good!
