Every year I do a top 10 list. 2010 being the kind of year it is, I was not able to muster ten. It's not that there weren't other films that I enjoyed watching; for example I thought Kick-Ass, Scott Pilgrim vs The World, Little Big Soldier, Reign Of Assassins, She's Out Of My League, Shutter Island and Salt were entertaining movies, some that I enjoyed immensely, maybe even stellar examples of filmmaking and acting. But it would also not be much of a loss to me if I don't recall them in the future - that's why they don't make it here.
So here goes this year's top five:
1A
INCEPTION

1B

3

hmmm, my top five are the social network, toy story 3, inception, kick-ass and scott pilgrim (tie)... with black swan being my favourite film of 2010.
That's a cool enough list. (Still, I'll be rooting for Toy Story 3 to be punched with failure at the Oscars.) I knew you'd like Black Swan.
httyd for best animated and toy story 3 for best picture! i just happened to like toy story 3 more because it actually made me weep like a bitch.
personally, i'm hoping that black swan will win best pic. the social network totally deserve best adapted screenplay and should be happy enough with that considering that it's pretty much sweeping every other award shows there is.
Actually that's not quite what's happening. The Social Network was sweeping the critics awards, then the guild awards started and the wind was unequivocally on The King's Speech's side. And since the guilds and the Academy share the same members ...
As you can see in the other post, for Black Swan I'm rooting for a director win, which I thought would be fair. Which is just as impossible for my other rooting target – Best Picture for Inception.
i was under the impression that the social network was doing very well pretty much everywhere considering the headlines of my film news feeds. oh well.
i'll be very, very surprised if inception wins. even i, as a real massive fan of the film, don't think it deserves to.
i just noticed that you have despicable me in your top 5. it's all up to individual tastes, of course, but i was still very taken back. i liked the film a lot, but better than toy story 3? reeeeaaally? :p
just saw shaolin. except for one super funny moment, i thought it was quite bad. i liked green hornet but thought that jay chou was jay chou.
It's simple really. I was rather more entertained laughing at and awww-ing at the minions and getting caught up with the jokes and story of Despicable Me than I was getting caught up with the story and feeling sad and despairing at well-written climax of Toy Story 3.
